Start with what the badge needs to do

A badge for a conference has a different job from a badge worn by the same person every day. For an event, someone may need to read a name across a table. At a front desk, a smaller badge may need to sit comfortably with a uniform. Tell us where yours will be used, who will wear it, and what needs to be readable first.

You don’t need to select every detail before getting in touch. A rough quantity, your logo, and a description of the job are enough to start a useful conversation. If you already have an approved badge design, send that too.

Engraved metal badges

Engraved metal badges suit names, lettering, or a logo that works without full-color printing. Tell us the look you want and whether the badge will be worn daily or used for an event.

The material and finish are part of the design decision. The appearance of an engraved mark depends on the metal and its finish. A previous badge can help show the look you want, but different metals give different results. We’ll work from the material proposed for your order.

Engraved plastic badges

We also engrave badges in two-color plastic and plastic with a metallic finish. These offer a different appearance from solid metal. Engraved plastic gives the lettering a clear contrast against the badge surface. Mention it if that’s the look you want.

The gold-finish museum name badges shown here are plastic with magnetic backs. A metallic appearance and a metal badge are different things. Tell us the material and finish you want, and We’ll confirm the choices with your quote.

Color-printed badge designs

Color-printed plastic badges are another option when your logo needs more than a single-color treatment. Send the logo you actually use so we can discuss the artwork, the proposed surface, and how the names will sit alongside it. The Bellingham Queer Collective badges are color printed on holographic plastic with magnetic backs.

Keep the full design in mind, not just the logo. A colorful background can make the name harder to read. Small type, long titles, and several sponsor logos all compete for the same space. Tell us which elements are essential and which can be reduced or left off.

Names that fit the layout

Send a representative selection of names and titles, including the longest ones, before the design is settled. A layout that works for a short first name can become cramped with a longer name and two lines of job title.

For a batch with different names, keep each person’s details together and check spelling before sending the final list. Include any distinctions that matter, such as department, organization, or event role. If every badge is identical, make that clear too. It changes what needs to be prepared and checked.

Use a previous badge as a starting point

If you’re matching an existing badge, send a clear photograph and its measurements. Include your original artwork if you have it. A reference badge helps communicate the proportions, hierarchy, and amount of information you want.

Include the shape, finish, and attachment requirements when asking for a match. If the original design needs updating, point out what should stay the same and what can change. We’ll confirm material choices and the details included in your quote.

Get the job details together

For a quote, send the quantity, required date, delivery destination, and artwork. Let us know whether the names or other text change between badges. Tell us if the badges need to work with an existing holder or attachment. Include dimensions or a product reference where you have one.

You’ll contact us first, then We’ll set up the job around the agreed details. We can settle the material, design, and attachment requirements in writing before the order is arranged.

Frequently asked questions

Can each badge have a different name?

Send the names and any changing titles with your inquiry. We’ll quote the job with those differences included, rather than treating it as a batch of identical badges.

Which is better for the design: engraving or color printing?

Send your logo and a reference for the look you want. Engraving and printing produce different results, and the right choice depends on the artwork and proposed material. We’ll discuss that before setting up the job.

Are magnets or clips included?

All three plastic badge examples shown on this page have magnetic backs, including the red museum language and welcome badges. Tell us how yours will be worn. We’ll confirm the attachment and what is included in your quote.

Can you quote a repeat order?

Yes, send the previous order details or a photograph, along with the new quantity and any changed names. We’ll review what needs to match and confirm the materials and details for the new job.

Tell us about your project.

Send your quantity, logo, name list or sample names, required date, and any material or attachment requirements. We’ll review the details and set up your custom badge order.
